AI Shujaa Bootcamp for Explorers & Innovators

A hands-on holiday bootcamp where learners build, code, design, test and present exciting projects in AI, robotics, coding, Minecraft, digital design and storytelling. The experience is playful, practical and built for young people who love to create.

Two age pathways

One bootcamp. Two learner journeys.

AI Shujaa Bootcamp serves learners aged 9–18 through two age-appropriate pathways, each designed to match their level, interests and pace.

Explorers Pathway

Ages 9–12 · 50 learners

Explorers enjoy playful, guided experiences in AI, coding, Micro:bit, WhalesBot Robotics, Minecraft Education, design and storytelling. The focus is on discovery, creativity and confidence-building.

Innovators Pathway

Ages 13–18 · 50 learners

Innovators engage in deeper design and innovation challenges using AI, robotics, challenge strategy, coding, prototyping, branding, pitching and portfolio work. The focus is on leadership and real-world application.

5-Day Learning Journey

Five days of creativity, coding, robotics and confidence.

Each day includes a Technology Studio and an Art & Design Studio with a strong connection between both, and a final output learners can proudly share.

Day 1Create Your Digital Identity

Explorers: Playful badge design and guided programming. Innovators: Stronger identity systems, richer interaction design and personal branding.

Technology Studio: Micro:bit Interactive Name Badge

  • Explore the basics of Micro:bit programming
  • Create LED animations
  • Programme scrolling names and messages
  • Use buttons to trigger different animations

Art & Design Studio: Creator Identity Design

  • Design a personal logo
  • Create a future inventor, creator or AI Shujaa identity
  • Design and decorate a wearable badge holder
  • Create visual elements that represent interests and personality

Connection: Learners combine programming and design to create an interactive wearable badge that lights up and shares their message.

Day 2Design a Character & Build a Game

Explorers: Simple playable games and imaginative character worlds. Innovators: Deeper game mechanics, AI-supported storytelling and user experience thinking.

Technology Studio: Game Design with MakeCode Arcade

  • Learn principles of game design
  • Create sprites and simple animations
  • Programme movement and controls
  • Build a playable mini-game
  • Explore how AI can support story and character ideas

Art & Design Studio: Character & World Design

  • Develop a hero character
  • Design environments and landscapes
  • Create a backstory
  • Design a simple world inspired by the story

Connection: The character designed in the art studio becomes the playable character inside the game.

Final Output: Playable Game + Character Design Sheet + Game World Concept
Day 3Robotics, Sensors & Smart Movement

Explorers: Guided robot building and movement missions. Innovators: Deeper sensor logic, mission strategy, debugging and performance improvement.

Technology Studio: WhalesBot Robotics

  • Explore the basics of robotics using WhalesBot Robotics kits
  • Understand motors, sensors and programmed instructions
  • Build robot structures
  • Programme robot movement and responses
  • Test how robots interact with their environment

Art & Design Studio: Robot Personality & Mission Design

  • Design a robot personality
  • Create a mission card
  • Decorate or theme the robot concept
  • Develop a story around the problem the robot solves

Connection: The robot becomes more than a machine — it becomes a character with a purpose and challenge to complete.

Day 4Enjoy AI Challenge Preparation

Explorers: Friendly task-based robotics missions. Innovators: Enjoy AI Challenge strategy, team roles, iterative testing and competition readiness.

Technology Studio: Enjoy AI Challenge Practice

  • Understand the structure of a robotics challenge
  • Practise teamwork, strategy and robot testing
  • Use WhalesBot robots to complete challenge tasks
  • Debug, improve and retest robot programmes
  • Explore how AI and robotics solve real-world challenges

Art & Design Studio: Challenge Branding & Team Identity

  • Create a team name and logo
  • Design a team poster using Canva
  • Create a robot challenge strategy board
  • Prepare a short pitch explaining the solution

Connection: Learners combine robot programming, teamwork, design and communication to prepare for an Enjoy AI-style challenge.

Day 5Mini-Challenge & Showcase

Explorers: Proudly present projects and learning. Innovators: Pitch ideas, explain technical choices and showcase stronger portfolio-level work.

Technology Studio: WhalesBot Challenge + Minecraft Education

  • Participate in a friendly Enjoy AI Mini-Challenge
  • Use WhalesBot robots to complete missions
  • Demonstrate coding, robotics, teamwork and problem-solving
  • Build or present a Minecraft Education creative world linked to the theme

Art & Design Studio: Showcase Preparation & Presentations

  • Finalise project displays
  • Prepare presentation boards
  • Practise explaining work to parents and guests
  • Organise a portfolio of projects from the week

Connection: Learners bring the whole week together through robotics, AI, Minecraft, storytelling, design and public presentation.
